This entire post is going to be talking about Genshin Impact's new update. Thoughts on Miliastra Wonderland and the two new Archon Quests: The Song of the Welkin Moon Act 3 & 4. I'll hide the spoilers under a cut tag.

Firstly: Miliastra Wonderland was released with this update. I wasn't particularly hyped for it nor did I know much about it other than this was Hoyoverse's attempt at imitating Roblox and Infinity Nikki. So when it was released, all I expected was games created by users and playable by anyone with a character they can dress up.

I feel like even that was a bit of expecting a lot. What we got was quite honestly a lot of really unfinished multiplayer mini-games. Many of the starting User Generated Content games weren't working properly, would have text that was difficult to read and would not even load properly sometimes. There were a few games that were playable and players would be able to unlock some craftable recipes to create clothing.

Each player would receive a male and female Manekin. You can choose the hair and eye color and a starter set of clothing, but most of the clothing shown in the store is purchase only. There's no "Mora" equivalent to purchase wearable items. You can only earn clothing recipes by playing games. You can take the Manekin into Teyvat and have them play as a very generic version of the Traveler, but they can only level up through playing games inside the Wonderland. There's no materials to gather to help speed up the process of leveling.

All of the shop clothes are only purchasable with real money. Even the gacha system uses only real money for each pull. I know some people are concerned about Hoyo developers focusing on Miliastra instead of actual Genshin Content as well. I feel those are somewhat valid concerns.

Will Miliastra fall by the wayside like the TCG? or will it actually florish? With no primogems earned and only money used for costumes, I don't really think I'll be playing it much. If they "fix" some of these issues, they'd probably retain some gameplay in that area. Hopefully they'll send out a survey sometime and listen to the players.

Secondly, the Archon Quests!

So I did finally get to play the two new Archon Quests. I really enjoyed Renrir and was grateful that they actually gave him detailed motivation for joining the Abyss and becoming as corrupted as he currently is. I liked the introduction of Durin and I'm looking forward to when he'll be on the banner. I found Varka to be a bit too much of a loud stereotypical knight, so I really want to see anything that will make his character interesting. So far he seems fairly dull.

I enjoyed watching Columbina's growth from being weak and quiet to actively looking for friends. It was great seeing Dainsleif take a more active role in saving the world this time.

I feel like the only complaints I have are with Nefer. Not with Nefer as a character, but that her own story was added to an already long Archon Quest. I felt like she could have either been added in a side quest or put perhaps they should retain the individual Character quests. At the very least the dip into her past seemed not as well integrated.

Anyway, those are my thoughts! I'm glad that I've gotten a good number of tasks done in Nod-Krai but I'm still not sure if I'll really play Miliastra.

It's sad, because I like the concept of having a character that we can customize, but it's just pretty limiting atm. I'm really hoping they make some changes to the system, because there's a lot of room for improvement. I don't think they should have added monetization the way they did to an OPEN BETA, but I'm not a million dollar entertainment company lmao They probably did need to test how it would handle under a large userbase, so I'm sure that's why it's open beta, but come on. I definitely am looking forward to sending some feedback on that.

I really enjoyed the AQ too. I'm happy we got some more details about the beginning of the fall of Khaenri'ah, even though there's still a plethora of unanswered questions. I hope they continue to fill in gaps like that. Rerir was definitely an interesting character. I'm glad he wasn't one dimensional.

And yeah, I agree that Nefer's quest didn't flow quite as well as Lauma's and Flins' did. I do like that it's not an extra quest... looking at the backlog of character story quests I still have lol, but I think the pacing could have been a bit better. It was too much all at once.

Yeah, that seems to be the main audience right now. Ugh, I wish I had gotten a screenshot, but I entered one co-op game in miliastra where the top three in the group all had the banner witch outfit and I waz just like how???? Why??? I felt bad enough buying the art themed one, but at least that was guaranteed and not gacha lol
